Customer was experiencing ongoing sewer line problems with their 55 year old home. The problems started out a few years ago and the solution only required clearing the line with a hydro jet once a year. So year, after year, the line was cleared and before long the line required clearing twice a year. It was obvious that the line was starting to break down and it was only a matter a of time before it failed or collapsed. The customer needed to figure out what was happening to the line and could it be fixed before it was too late. The fact that the sewer pipe was backing up in to the basement was causing serious health concerns for the customers. They had to replace the carpeting and remove it from the sewage soaked basement. The basement was fully functional and it was a family room dedicated to watching sporting events.

The sewer video camera was inserted into the pipe where it was inspected. The problem discovered was a very common problem, tree roots! It is amazing how many times tree roots can penetrate a sewer pipe and infiltrate it. The pipe developed cracks within the interior and the roots were growing inside. What was happening was the roots were actually being watered by the flushing of the sewer. This caused the roots to grow back robustly where it further damaged the pipe’s integrity. Most people don’t even realize this is a big problem and how flushing the commode can water the roots. The customer had two large trees in the backyard where the sewer line ran underneath the trees.
